Chris Harris enjoys a smokey treat with HSV Maloo GTS

Auto enthusiasts should absolutely adore Australia. This bonkers island, aside from being filled with bugs, spiders, sharks and crocodiles, all of which are hell bent on killing you slowly, is home to two of the auto world's greatest things – the V8 Supercars series, and the ute.

While Americans will be familiar with the ute thanks to cars like the Chevrolet El Camino and Ford Ranchero, the Australians have absolutely perfected this bizarre fusion of car and truck, with the result being the Holden HSV Maloo GTS. With a 577-horsepower, supercharged, 6.2-liter V8 playing a very metal version of "Waltzing Matilda" under the hood and the ability to tow 3,200 pounds, we like the Maloo GTS very, very much.

Chris Harris likes this particular Holden very, very much, too. He likes it so much that on his "holiday" to Australia, he took the time to drive "the most Australian vehicle of all," complete with the sort of jabs we'd expect of a Brit driving an Aussie car (there is Vegemite involved).

Take a look at Harris and his take on this hilarious Holden.News Source: Chris Harris On Cars via YouTubeVideosHoldenTruckPerformancechris harrischris harris on carsholdenholden maloovideoI'm reporting this comment as:Rude or offensiveNot constructive / off-topicSexual contentSpam or misleadingOtherReported comments and users are reviewed by Autoblog staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week to determine whether they violate Community Guideline. No kidding! When the original plan to bring this as the Pontiac G8 ST fell through, and Chevy seemed adamant to let the Aussie bloodline die as far as the US went, it was sad, but understandable. But then Chevy made the SS, and are now giving it the manual, which is a clear statement they're listening to the performance enthusiast, so why can't they go full retro and bring back the El Camino!?
