ITVJoe was found not guilty in the series finale
In the last episode of series two, a jury found Joe not guilty of the murder of Danny Latimer, causing viewers to share their shock on Twitter.
One furious viewer tweeted: "People of the UK are now a very angry nation. IS THIS A JOKE!!?!!?!" with another adding: "They're excused from further jury duty as they're all blatantly foolish."
After he was found innocent, Joe went to the church to beg vicar Paul for help, but he chose to call Mark and Nigel to alert them to Miller's whereabouts.
The men then bundled Joe into a van, leading fans to assume they were going to kill him; but it emerged that Beth, Ellie and Paul had all gathered in the hut that Danny was murdered in.
The group told Miller that they were sending him to Sheffield, and that if he returned to Broadchurch, they would kill him.
Ellie also told her husband that he would never see their children again.
Elsewhere on the show, the killers in the Sandbrook murders were revealed.
In violent flashback scenes, it emerged that Ricky Gillespie killed his niece Lisa when he walked in to find her having sex with Lee.
Claire then arrived to find the two men standing over the body, but went to comfort Lisa's cousin Pippa, who admitted that she thought Lee murdered her babysitter.

After Claire gave Pippa a swig of Ricky's whisky, which was laced with Rohypnol, Lee smothered the child with a pillow.
Hardy and Miller arrested the trio in relation to the murders, but some viewers were unsatisfied.
One fan tweeted: "The third series of #Broadchurch is going to be the killers in the Sandbrook case being found not guilty."
At the end of the episode, it was confirmed that the show, starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman, will be returning for a third series.
