Jo Joyner has admitted she couldn't have known her lines better prior to her live gaffe on EastEnder

The now-infamous "How's Adam" incident immediately became fodder for cheeky fans on Twitter and Facebook, who found endlessly creative ways to immortalise the slip-up, which occurred mid-way through a tense scene opposite Laurie Brett, playing Jane Beale.

Viewers seemed particularly amused by Jo's horrified expression after realising her mistake, turning it into Vines, memes and even Youtube remixes.

Speaking to Gaby Roslin about her Live Week 'mare, Jo admitted that there was "absolutely no way" she could have returned to the set without the support of her colleagues on the BBC soap.

Recalling the moment when Jo's character, Tanya Branning, was heard asking after 'Adam' rather than the newly-married Ian, Jo told Gaby: "It was like an out of body experience, like a car crash. As I'm saying 'Adam' I can hear myself tailing off, because I came out of my head and went, 'well there's no getting out of that'.

"There is absolutely no explanation as to how or why that happened. We couldn't have known it better, we go over and over this," she continued.

"I'd never got it wrong… Obviously, I thought I'd wait until there were nine million people watching," she laughed, taking the gaffe in good humour.

Rather than feeling annoyed or embarrassed by the online attention her mistake had attracted from gleeful viewers, Jo thanked her fans for their support. "People have been so lovely," she said.

Unfortunately for Jo, the fluffed line was the only major mistake to occur during Live Week, which attracted critical praise for the cast's slick performances as viewers finally learnt what happened to Lucy Beale.

Adam Woodyatt and Laurie Brett came in for particular praise for scenes which saw Jane confess to new husband Ian that their son Bobby was responsible for his half-sister's death, in an all-live episode which attracted 10 million viewers.
